Georgetown Generations: Past, Present, Future

In June 2004, The Town of Georgetown provided $2,400,000.00 in conjunction with a Grant from the Library Services Technology Act of $1,644,694.00 to renovate and expand the library. The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library GOAL 2000 Committee is launching a campaign to raise $500,000 to furnish and equip this beautiful new community space.

An artful and imaginative mural of individual ceramic tiles sponsored by individuals, businesses, and organizations will be a cornerstone of the fund-raising campaign.  The mural wall will tell the story of Georgetown both past and present, and will recognize donors to the furnishings fund. Renowned ceramic artist Marion Grebow has been commissioned to create this permanent public art installation.

We invite you to help create a work of art to commemorate Georgetown’s past, present and future, from it’s modest beginnings as New Rowley to the modern community it is today.  The artist’s hand-sculpted, bas-relief picture tiles will be based on historical research and resources.  Tiles will depict actual events, places, and native plants and animals that reflect Georgetown.  When you buy a tile, your name or a name of your choice will be permanently glazed under the picture.  Picture tiles may be combined with a name tile for larger dedications.
