6/5/06 All bushes are removed as well as some trees. Trees on Maple Street will be replaced next fall along with other landscaping.

Asphalt driveway being cleared. The War memorial will be moved to another location. The new septic tank goes under here.

Driveway will be repaved for 14 vehicles at the end of construction. A new bicycle stand will be installed at the new main entrance facing Maple Street.

6/9/06 Construction fencing has been installed. Land has been cleared of topsoil and loam stockpiled for landscaping later.

Driveway of former main entrance.

One large pile of topsoil at the end of the park!

6/12/06 Marking of the outline of the new foundation. (The tiny orange cones.)

6/19/06 New Main Entrance runs from the closest orange marker on the right to the next marker, then left to the tall marker on the dirt wall.

The view from the back wall of the new addition to the back wall of the old building. This marker is the outside edge of the foundation wall. The distance to the flat wall of the old library is about 80 feet.

6/21/06 Foundation ditch for back wall. The middle bit (looks like a bridge) is where the round curve goes.

More foundation ditch.

6/27/06 Wood forms for the concrete footings. This is the west wall of the meeting room. At the far end (by the barrel) is the front entrance.

7/7/06 No more furnace. Future home of the new furnace, electrical, and other HVAC mechanicals.

Interesting "oven holes" in the old furnace room. Anyone have an idea what they were for?

Former bathroom, future ramp up from the main Circulation Desk.

The former children's story time room. Future data equipment room and storage.

Former circulation area. This window on the right will be a walk through into the new addition.

The round room shelving has been removed revealing these panels. Any ideas? Possibly picture "frames" for art?

Round room shelving is gone revealing the beautiful wood floors beneath the carpeting. The wood floors will be refinished

Reference room shelving has been removed revealing the lovely baseboard moulding. The wood detailing in the old library will be repaired and refinished as needed.

7/11/06 Metal rebar installed prior to concrete.

The round curve at the back of the new library. It looks very much like the back of the old library!

From the right corner to the left of the picture is where the Children's Program Room will be.

7/20/06 The future meeting room will seat 75-80.

Column details. These columns will be repaired and refinished as needed.

Inside the 1904 building, just above the old circulation desk.

The back foundation below the small windows will feature our handcrafted tile wall, Georgetown Generations. This area will be in the Main Entrance foyer.

The north foundation wall facing Pleasant Street.

7/28/06 Concrete footings are in.

At this corner and to the back wall of the old library is the Circulation Desk.
